RESPONSIBILITY.

At Origin., responsibility isn’t a unique selling point, it is part of our foundation.
We believe that business should be done in a way that respects people and the planet. It should be the standard, not the exception.

Being “engaged” is not only a value we express through supporting each other’s journey, it is also held high when considering our environment, the people we partner with, and the community we serve. With that, sustainability is simply woven into our values, alongside quality, integrity, and timeless design.

We Reject
Fast Fashion.

At Origin., we embrace a design philosophy that values longevity and incorporates high-quality materials with exceptional attention to detail. We create with intention, designing pieces that are made to last and meant to be worn season after season.

This ambition and the slow fashion mindset are implemented in each step of the development process. We select long-term partners with craftsmanship at heart, produce in limited quantities, keep our collections thoughtful, and avoid unnecessary surplus. This not only reduces waste, but also honours the time, skill, and resources that go into every garment.

For us, moving slower isn’t about doing less, it’s about doing better.

WHY WE PRODUCE IN PORTUGAL?

From the beginning, we chose to work with carefully selected production partners in
Portugal. This decision was based on three main elements:

01 - Short Supply Chains.

A shorter supply chain results in flexibility and quick turnaround times. Also, products can be transported by road. This lowers the carbon footprint of products in comparison to shipping over water or through the air.

Additionally, production in Portugal allows us to keep a close connection with our partners and have in-person visits.

02 - Renowned Artisans.

In a time when many brands moved overseas for cheap labour production, the textile industry of Portugal redefined itself to uphold a philosophy focused on craftsmanship and premium quality garments. This positioning aligns with the identity of Origin., and so we partner with organizations that have decades of experience.

03 - ESR Standards.

As a part of the EU, Portugal naturally enforces strong labour protection regulations. Next to that, environmental regulations are carefully respected.

However, Origin. takes a step further. We work with GOTS-certified suppliers to ensure the highest possible standards daily guide our partners' operations. The GOTS certifications are regularly checked by third-party organizations.

MATERIALS.

We constantly look for ways to ensure our products are crafted with natural materials and low impact on nature. For our cotton products, we work together with GOTS-certified suppliers. This means the entire supply chain from field to final stitch follows strict criteria for environmental impact and social responsibility. Thereby we ensure only organic cotton and approved dyes are
used in the production of our collections.

Certifications like these are not considered as a marketing label, but as a guarantee that we’re doing things the right way.

WHAT'S AHEAD?

We see sustainability as an ongoing pursuit, one that demands constant progress. For us, responsibility isn’t a statement or a feature to promote; it’s the standard every brand should uphold. Not because it sells, but because it matters.

Here’s where we’re heading into next:

Staying True.

We will continue to work with trusted partners in Portugal who are aware of their surroundings and are committed towards sustainable and social growth. Tracking our own supply chain means more transparency, better quality and better environmental and social circumstances. Values we won’t compromise.

Our Commitment.

We remain committed to a slow fashion approach. We plan our collections carefully, produce in limited quantities, and focus on timeless and minimalistic designs over trends. In doing so, we can avoid waste and make pieces that last.

Staying Proactive.

We do not claim to have all the answers yet. As a growing brand, we are still learning what our product range will look like in the future. But one thing is certain: no matter how our collections evolve, we will never compromise on the responsibility and the stories behind every garment.

We also want to stay ahead of what is expected. New industry trends, like the introduction of the product passport, show that transparency and traceability are becoming the norm. We may not have to be there yet in terms of regulations, but we’re already working to meet these standards before they become requirements. By doing so, we hope to show that clothing brands can take a proactive approach for the environment and for the people.
